NY Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin led the NHL with 2.07 goals against average last season posting six shutouts while tallying 36 wins with a .935 save percentage. Shesterkin has not allowed more than three goals in 16 consecutive games.
The Lightning are opening the regular season on the road for the ninth time in franchise history and the first time since 2013. Tampa Bay is 19-8-2 in season openers and trails only the Vegas Golden Knights for the NHL’s best points percentage in season openers.
