No. 16 Oklahoma visits Cincinnati on Saturday afternoon.

With a perfect start to the season heading into much stiffer competition in conference play, No. 16 Oklahoma begins its Big 12 slate against Cincinnati on the road on Saturday afternoon. The Sooners haven’t been challenged much in their three consecutive wins to begin the year with lopsided victories over Arkansas State, SMU, and Tulsa on the road last week. Cincinnati, on the other hand, won their first two games over Eastern Kentucky and Pittsburgh before falling to Miami (OH) to drop to 2-1 on the season. Oklahoma has won the only previous matchup between these two schools with a 31-29 victory back in the 2010 season.

Last week, Dillon Gabriel and the Sooners cruised to a 66-17 victory over Tulsa after making the short trip to Tulsa, Oklahoma from Norman last Saturday. Gabriel threw for 421 passing yards and five touchdowns in the win, while wide receiver Nic Anderson was on the receiving end of three of Gabriel’s touchdown tosses.

As for the Bearcats, Cincinnati fell in an overtime thriller to Miami (OH) by a final score of 31-24 last Saturday night. Cincinnati rallied in the fourth quarter from a 21-16 deficit, with quarterback Emory Jones rushing for a 17-yard touchdown with two minutes to go to briefly give the Bearcats the lead. However, Miami would tie it in regulation and eventually win the game in overtime.

Oklahoma looks to prove its start is for real against Cincinnati on Saturday afternoon.
