The SMU Mustangs and UCF Knights face off Wednesday, October 5. We break down how to watch.

For the last time, the UCF Knights begin their American Athletic Conference season, a day late, but hopefully with no less momentum.

The Knights (3-1), who join the Big 12 in 2023, will play the Southern Methodist Mustangs on Wednesday night at FBC Mortgage Stadium in Orlando. The game was delayed twice due to Hurricane Ian.

UCF is coming off an impressive 27-10 victory over Georgia Tech. The Knights silenced the Yellow Jackets in the second half, allowing Georgia Tech just a field goal. Quarterback John Rhys Plumlee ran for 100 yards and a touchdown, while RJ Harvey and Isaiah Bowser combined for 145 yards on the ground.

SMU (2-2) is trying to bounce back from a 42-34 loss to the Mustangs’ rivals, TCU. Quarterback Tanner Mordecai has been impressive at times, averaging more than 346 passing yards per game, while throwing 12 touchdowns. Defensively, though, the Mustangs have been less than stellar of late, giving up more than 30 points in each of two defeats.
