The No. 6 USC Trojans look to remain undefeated as they host the Arizona State Sun Devils.

The effect Lincoln Riley has brought to USC football has been almost instantaneous. The Trojans have won four straight to start the season. That is as many wins as the school got total in 2021 finishing 4-8 last season. With last week’s win over Oregon State, the Trojans have moved up to the No. 6 ranking in the nation. The Sun Devils meanwhile have lost three in a row since opening the season with a win against Northern Arizona. After a 1–2 start, the university let go of head coach Herm Edwards. They’ll be trying to find themselves under new interim head coach Shaun Aguano.

The start of Aguano’s tenure did not go well as ASU was trounced by No. 13 Utah 34-13. They were only able to score one touchdown on the night and that came with two minutes left in the game. The glimmer of hope for the Sun Devils is that USC did not dominate Oregon State in their last game.

The Trojans scored only three points in three quarters eventually rallying in the fourth to win 17-14. The Beavers scored with less than five minutes left in the game to retake the lead 14-10. The Trojans didn’t back down and tested their resolve ultimately winning the game with just over a minute to go by a Caleb Williams 21-yard pass to Jordan Addison to avoid the upset. Being in front of the Coliseum faithful should help USC avoid getting back in that position here tonight against ASU.
