The New York Giants and the Washington Football team will face off at 8:20 p.m. ET, Sept 16 at FedExField Stadium after ugly season-opening losses.
New York’s defense was terrific in 2020 and kept a lot of games close, especially in the second half of the year. On the other hand, Washington’s offensive line is a top 10 unit. The Giants lost their Week 1 matchup against the Denver Broncos as they couldn’t get much offensive momentum. The Washington Football team lost to the Los Angeles Chargers with quarterback Taylor Heinicke playing most of the game under center. And Ryan Fitzpatrick suffered a hip injury in Week 1 so his status is uncertain going forward.
Taylor Heinicke will draw the start due to a hip injury of QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. Now, Heinicke will draw his second NFL start. His first was in the last year’s Wild Card Round of the NFL Playoffs. It was against the eventual Super Bowl 55 champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Although the football team lost that day, Heinicke was terrific, throwing for 306 yards, one touchdown, and one interception while also going for another 46 yards and also a score on the ground.
The Giants were struggling to get their run game going against Denver in Week 1, they will face an even tougher run defense this week. The Giants defense is still improving, but the pick here is the Washington Football Team -4.5.
The Giants might take advantage of the situation of QB Fitzpatrick and can also apply pressure of their own and force turnovers on QB Heinicke. Moreover, Ryan Fitzpatrick’s injury makes this game more interesting, even though backup quarterback Taylor Heinicke performed admirably in relief.
