How to watch Lions vs. Vikings football game
The Detroit Lions have enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they must head out on the road. Detroit and the Minnesota Vikings will face off in an NFC North battle at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium. The teams split their matchups last year, with Minnesota winning the first 19-17 at home and the Lions taking the second 29-27.
Detroit was able to grind out a solid victory over the Washington Commanders this past Sunday, winning 36-27. Detroit’s WR Amon-Ra St. Brown was on fire, catching nine passes for two TDs and 116 yards. St. Brown’s longest run was for 58 yards in the third quarter.
Detroit’s defense was a presence as well, as it got past Washington’s offensive line to sack QB Carson Wentz five times for a total loss of 29 yards. Leading the way was DE Aidan Hutchinson and his three sacks. Those were the first sacks for Hutchinson.
Meanwhile, the game between the Vikings and the Philadelphia Eagles this past Monday was not a total blowout, but with Minnesota falling 24-7 on the road, it was darn close to turning into one. QB Kirk Cousins had a memorable game, but not in the way you want to be remembered: despite one touchdown, he threw three interceptions with only 4.8 yards per passing attempt.
Detroit is expected to lose this next one by 6. They hadn’t treated fans well this season, but they at least enjoy a 2-0 record against the spread.
Detroit came out on top in a nail-biter against Minnesota when the two teams previously met in December of last year, sneaking past 29-27. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won’t have home-field advantage. We’ll see if the change in venue makes a difference.

Phillips on Thielen not being targeted in the first half at Philadelphia:
“Anytime you only have 21 plays in the first half, you have a few three-and-outs, we weren’t able to really establish our rhythm and a good balance of run and pass, so it kind of limited everyone’s opportunities, whether you’re saying Thielen or touches for Dalvin [Cook] or [Alexander] Mattison.
A lot of people were limited and not exclusive to Adam. We’ve just got to be efficient on the early downs and have got to convert some third downs and get some drives.”
Donatell on learning from Monday’s loss:
“We want to execute better if we do it again. But anytime we have a setback, we view that as temporary. First thing, ‘What are you gonna learn? What if you had to plan the next day? What would you do differently?’ That’s how we looked at it, and when there is some time that passes in between that, and then we’ll factor that into that.”
Daniels on rookie punter Ryan Wright:
Wright and the punt coverage team excelled for Minnesota’s special teams on Monday in Philadelphia.
He punted five times for a gross average of 49.2 and net average of 46.4. Wright placed three punts inside the 20-yard line and recorded a long of 58.
“Yeah, Mr. Wright is going an unbelievable job. Like I told you when we made the decision to go with Mr. Wright, I firmly believe he has a top-10 leg in this league,” Daniels said. “It’s funny because pregame you look at him in his eyes and he’s kind of bright-eyed, and it’s kind of like, ‘You OK, Mr. Wright?’ The moment almost looks too big for him.
“But the game rolls around, and he’s just locked in and how he goes about his process; he trusts it. The guy is just a gamer, hat’s off to him,” Daniels continued. “He does things the right way. Guys trust him. I trust him.
He always matches the hang with the distance and the direction, putting our cover team in elite positions to go down and find the football immediately and put it on display Monday night on a big stage on the road, rowdy crowd. He just continues to answer the bell.”
