The Philadelphia Eagles are favored to win for the first time this season. They are staying on the road Sunday to face off against the Detroit Lions at 1 p.m. ET Oct. 31 at Ford Field. Given that these two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Philadelphia scored first but ultimately less than the Las Vegas Raiders in their game last week. The Eagles fell to Las Vegas 33-22. Philadelphia was down 30-7 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. QB Jalen Hurts put forth a good effort for the losing side as he passed for two TDs and 236 yards on 34 attempts in addition to picking up 61 yards on the ground. Hurts ended up with a passer rating of 130.70.

Meanwhile, Detroit came up short against the Los Angeles Rams last week, falling 28-19. One thing holding Detroit back was the mediocre play of QB Jared Goff, who did not have his best game: despite one touchdown, he threw two interceptions. Goff ended up with a passer rating of 121.70.

Most of the squad’s points came courtesy of special teams, which contributed 13. K Austin Seibert delivered a perfect 4-for-4 game.

The Eagles are the favorite in this one, with an expected 3.5-point margin of victory. Those playing the odds have seen things go back and forth with Philadelphia, who are 3-4 against the spread.

Philadelphia was close but no cigar when the teams previously met two seasons ago as they fell 27-24 to Detroit. Can Philadelphia avenge their defeat, or is history doomed to repeat itself? We’ll soon find out.
