This is the fourth meeting all time between the Vols and Aggies. Two of them have been bowl matchups, including the 1957 Gator Bowl, which was Bear Bryant’s last game with A&M, and the 2005 Cotton Bowl (2004 season). UT won both of those games. Their most recent meeting was in 2016. Texas A&M won that game in overtime.
In order to make the College Football Playoff, Texas A&M needs to win today. Then, either the Ohio State Buckeyes or Clemson Tigers need to lose. Ohio State plays the Northwestern Wildcats in the Big Ten Championship, and Clemson plays the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the ACC Championship.
