The NC State Wolfpack and the Virginia Cavaliers meet in an ACC college football matchup from David A. Harrison III Field on Saturday afternoon.

The NC State Wolfpack will hope to build on a 30-29 road win over Pitt last time out, improving to 2-1 on the year. Devin Leary has thrown for 501 yards and 5 touchdowns on 66.7% passing while Zonovan Knight has a team-high 220 rushing yards and Ricky Person Jr. has 202 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns for NC State this season. Defensively, Devin Carter has a team-high 181 receiving yards while Emeka Emezie has 12 receptions to lead NC State for 145 receiving yards. Cary Angeline and Thayer Thomas also have 100+ receiving yards for NC State this year. Defensively, Drake Thomas has a team-high 25 total tackles and a pair of sacks while Isaiah Moore has 21 total tackles. Payton Wilson has a team-high 12 solo tackles while Daniel Joseph has a pair of sacks for NC State this year.

The Virginia Cavaliers will try to rebound from a 41-23 loss to Virginia last time out to fall to 1-1 this season. NC State is 1-8 ATS in their last 9 road games and 3-11 ATS in their last 14 games overall while the over is 6-1 in their last 7 conference games. Virginia is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games while the over is 8-0 in their last 8 games overall. The home team is 7-2 ATS in the last 9 meetings between these two teams.

This feels like a lot of points to lay considering NC State’s big road win over Pitt last week. However, while I haven’t really known Virginia as the kind of team that blows their opponents out of the water, NC State’s playing back-to-back road games which is tough enough as it is, and to be honest, a blind squirrel catches a nut once in a while, just like NC State surprises with an outright win on the road. But don’t get it twisted, this NC State team is still a bad road team and I think we see the Cavaliers show us that with a win by two scores at least. I’ll lay the points with Virginia in this one.

Chris’s PickVirginia -9.5
