The Iowa State Cyclones host the Kansas State Wildcats as they meet in Big 12 conference college football action from MidAmerican Energy Field in Ames on Saturday afternoon.

The Kansas State Wildcats will try to bounce back from back-to-back losses after a 20-18 loss to Oklahoma State dropped K-State to 4-3 on the year and 4-2 in conference play this season. Will Howard has thrown for 884 yards, 5 touchdowns and 5 interceptions on 54.4% passing while Deuce Vaughn leads Kansas State with 371 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns. Howard is 2nd on the Wildcats in rushing with 232 rushing yards and a pair of TDs while Harry Trotter has 177 rushing yards and 3 TDs. Vaughn also leads K-State in receiving with 366 receiving yards while Briley Moore has 271 receiving yards and Chabastin Taylor has 256 receiving yards with Moore logging 3 touchdowns this season. Sammy Wheeler and Phillip Brooks each have 100+ receiving yards this season. On defense, Jahron McPherson and Justin Hughes each have a team-high 42 total tackles with McPherson leading the team with 31 solo tackles. Wyatt Hubert leads K-State with 5.5 sacks while Drew Wiley has 3.5 sacks. McPherson and Justin Gardner each have a pair of interceptions as well for Kansas State this season.

The Iowa State Cyclones will look to build on their 5-1 conference record and 5-2 mark overall after a 38-31 win over Baylor last time out. Brock Purdy has thrown for 1,477 yards, 10 touchdowns and 6 interceptions on 62.2% passing while Breece Hall leads the nation with 1,034 rushing yards along with 13 touchdowns while Purdy and Kene Nwangwu each have 100+ rushing yards and 3 touchdowns this season. Xavier Hutchinson leads Iowa State with 35 grabs for 407 yards and 3 TDs while Charlie Kolar has 264 receiving yards with 3 TDs, Landen Akers has 216 receiving yards and Chase Allen has 173 receiving yards with a pair of touchdowns this season. On defense, Mike Rose leads Iowa State with 56 total tackles including 35 solo tackles and a team-high 3 interceptions while Will McDonald IV has a team-high 5.5 sacks and JaQuan Bailey has 5 sacks for the Cyclones this year.

Kansas State is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 conference games and 20-8 ATS in their last 28 games overall while the under is 7-1-1 in their last 9 games following a loss. Iowa State is 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games overall and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 home games while the under is 19-6-1 in their last 26 games against a team with a winning record. The underdog is 6-0 ATS in the last 6 meetings between these two teams.

I completely agree with Iowa State being favored here as the Wildcats just haven’t been the same team since Skylar Thompson went down due to injury, forcing Will Howard to step in at QB. However, while the Cyclones are solid offensively and are leading the pack in the Big 12, this is a lot of points to give up to a Kansas State team that’s pesky and doesn’t go away. Just ask Oklahoma State who were given all they could handle by the Wildcats in their last game. This is also a series that the underdog has dominated, covering in each of the last six meetings. Iowa State probably wins, but I think Kansas State keeps this game within a touchdown or less, so give me Kansas State and the points here.
