Karim Benzema

Karim Benzema scored a hat-trick in the match for Real Madrid against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night to take a 3-1 lead in favor of Los Blancos ahead of the second stage of the Champions League quarter-final.

Carlo Ancelotti is awestruck by the more than the 34-year-old forward, whom he compares to the best wine.

“He is more of a leader every day,” the Madrid coach claimed following Benzema’s goals, leading to an impressive 3-1 win against Chelsea in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.

“He is becoming more valued in this group and I believe that’s the thing that is the key to his success. He is a lot more personality. He’s an example to anyone.”

The latest goal explosion could be the end of Chelsea’s title defense in the event of a second-leg collapse of Madrid, which Paris Saint-Germain endured last month at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

Benzema currently has 37 goals in 36 games across all matches this season, including the three that turned the tide in the game in the last-16 against PSG.

Karim Benzema’s hat-trick was the difference; Real Madrid claimed a 3-1 first-leg lead over Chelsea in their UEFA Champions League semi-final clash at Stamford Bridge.

The French striker scored twice in quick succession early in the second half to put the visitors in control, before Mason Mount’s late reply for the Blues.

Benzema then completed his treble in stoppage time; putting Madrid in a strong position ahead of the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu next week.

It was a deserved victory for Zinedine Zidane’s side. They were the better team throughout and took their chances when they fell to them.

Chelsea, on the other hand, will need to produce a much-improved performance in the second leg; if they are to stand any chance of reaching the final.

Mount’s goal gives them a glimmer of hope. But it is a long way back from here for Thomas Tuchel’s men.

Karim Benzema just loves scoring against them. It’s now been six years in a row that he’s managed to score at least one goal against the Blues. If this keeps up, he may even break some records! Who knows what he’ll do next, but I’m sure it’ll be amazing. Keep an eye out for him and his incredible skills!
